Spring time at London & Prague Part I
Love the weather and places that i have visited. It was a great get-away trip for me and my mum. Happy Mother Day to you Mum! Both of us have planned sometime ago for this get-away trip. Actually, i just get it done very last minute in the month of March..."Matta fair" o dear.
First looking for the best deal in town on our flight, I've managed to get the best date during Spring time just few week before Prince William and Kate Middleton's Wedding (28 May 2011) as you all know many people will be crazy travelling to London during that day so it is wise to reach home safely before that day! Kiasi....unless i was invited to the Westminster Abbey or Buckingham Palace haha
Their wedding is splendid and beautiful. I have followed the TV Program every single hours. I just can't get enough from both of them....Pom pom... pom2. I like poppi. She is pretty too.
Time flied and I need to recall back, I still remember that all my last minute so call plan.....I know I need to do something about it. 1st I need to find my friend in helping me sorting out the plan...in London. She know the best things install for me. What a friend! Stay nearby Limehouse area. Nearby Canary Wharf area is the best place to catch sailing boat, lake view, jogging track, windy and sound of birds...I've passby every morning and walk to underground nearby, prefect place to stay. (480K pound for a 2 beds 2 bath 1400sf condo not bad)
London Marathon on that sunday morning, the street is so silent with only can heard my foot step.Cold at nite but morning sun is just perfect. Walk, cruise, underground and "hop-in & out" bus tour just make your traveling in London much easier and for me is1st ever travel in the bus tour with so much fun and convenient. Msia should pickup/learn the way how to take care the backpack tourist.
Oxford Circus Shopping area
London is the capital of the United Kingdom which is by far the largest city within Europe with total population of abt 8million. Abt 200 dialects spoken and many who are residing there belong to 1st, 2nd or 3rd generation migrants from former British colonies. My driver is one of them from India. Fortunate they managed to settle down comfortably compare with the new comer...London is the tough place to survive.
The famous area to shop will be Harrods Mall and places nearby. Royalty and superstar shopping area and one thing for sure " very very Expensive". Central London has everything like theatres and restaurants and many people like to dress well for sat nite dine-out and party. The sizzling River Thames divides the city into northern and southern parts and is one of the loveliest rivers in Europe. I see and hear most of the history of London via River Cruise, people just love the river! Hop in National Stadium, and you will know the influence of the others Europe country cultural into London (via Painting). Along the river, we can see the full view of House of Parliament, Big Ben(Clock Tower), Opposite will be the London Aquarium and Eye of London.
Kensington and Belgravia situated in the western part of London and normally expensive stay. n dine Kengsington Park is restricted garden and the most beautiful one. Queen Kensington Palace is nearby and now you know why is the best. There are many Park & Garden surrounding the area. (Diana's fountain is over there).
Have been to many wonderful place like Covert Garden, Leicester Square(ChinaTown- must try the duck meat), Shop around Oxford Street, Westminster Abbey Church (Wedding Hall) and St Paul Cathedral, Ceopatra's needle, Piccadily Circus and Bridges.
(The Millennium Bridge is a pedestrian footbridge that spans the Thames between St Paul's Cathedral and the Tate Modern. Designed by architect Sir Norman Forster, sculptor Sir Anthony Caro and engineers Ove Arup & Partners, this is London's first new bridge since Tower Bridge opened in 1894).
(London Bridge is just a normal road on the bridge)
Next morning I've managed travelled using MRT, across Hyde Park and visit majesty of British famous "the Buckingham Palace". Thousands of tourists come here and get amazed looking at the brilliant and breathtaking sight and of course the changing guard (after 11am only start -hot hot hot, lucky a good looking Spanish hunk come for the rescue.)
Didn't make it to Madame Tussaud's Waxwork Museum (1761-1850) or any show, Notting Hill, King's Cross(Red district, Bullet train to France), Cambridge, Shakespeare's birth place and Stonehenge...2 nites in London just not enough for me to cover all. I am surely will come back again.
Stay tune ...I have more picture to share on my trip to Prague.
